We added a monitoring system that watches the health of every server we run. It tracks data usage, service status, time zone sync, and other things that can silently break a system. If something starts to fail, we see it right away instead of finding out when a customer does.

It's the kind of thing that sounds boring until the day it saves you from a major outage. We're not perfect at this stuff, but we're getting better at catching problems early.
